Parents

Thank you!

We could not do what we do without the support of parents like you.

  • Fundraising

In order to give our students as many opportunities to be successful as possible, our team is constantly running fundraisers so that personal finances never get in the way of opportunity. Stay tuned for our fundraising calendar this year.

  • Judge's Lounge

We run at least two tournaments a season where we are responsible for providing food for judges and other coaches. It’s incredibly helpful when parents provide food for the lounge so we don’t have to pull from team funds. Please reach out to one of the coaches if you’re interested in supporting our Judge’s Lounge.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is Forensics/why is it called Forensics?

    1. Competitive speech! Students can choose from a variety of performance events that are either written by students or acting-based. The question everyone asks is why isn’t this CSI? Forensics is derived from Latin, meaning to prove a point with evidence. We do this using the art of verbal argumentation, while CSI techs do this with physical evidence.

  2. Is my child required to attend every tournament?

    1. Nope! There are a few required tournaments that are noted on the Tournament Schedule, but outside of those, all other tournaments are optional. If students want to be competitive and grow their speaking and performing skills, we recommend that students attend as many Varsity Tournaments (particularly NIETOC Qualifiers) as possible. Please note that NSAA only permits a student to attend 12 tournaments a year, not including State or Nationals.

  3. What are GOLD Tournaments?

    1. GOLD stands for Greater Omaha League of Debate. These are Omaha-centric tournaments that only novices are permitted to enter. These tournaments are a great way for first-year Forensics students to become familiar with how Forensics tournaments work alongside other first-year students.

  4. What is a Novice?

    1. A Novice is a first-year Forensics student. Once a student starts their second year of Forensics, they are considered a Varsity competitor. It’s quite normal for Novice Forensics competitors to compete alongside Varsity competitors.
