Public Address Events
Public Address contains traditional events similar to what one would expect in an English class, business presentation, or TED Talk.
Original Oratory (OO)
An original speech written by the student that attempts to change the audience’s view on a topic or become aware of a problematic situation. Persuasive speeches require a solution, original oratories do not. Occasionally, scripts are allowed, but the successful speakers are memorized. This speech is sometimes called Persuasive Speaking.
This is a Nationals and a State event.
Informative Speaking (INF)
An original speech written by the student in which the speaker gives the audience a better understanding about a chosen topic. Visual aids are required. Note cards are allowed, but the successful speakers are memorized.
This is a Nationals and a State event.
Entertainment Speaking (ENT)
An original speech written by the student to entertain the audience using various types of humor. The speech is not a string of jokes or a stand-up routine. Visual aids are required. Note cards are allowed, but the successful speakers are memorized.
This is a State event.
